  5. Welcome to the University of Georgia's artificial intelligence FTP archive.
  6. You are invited to download our files and distribute them freely to others.
  7.  
  8. We distribute only our own files and a few files from other sources that
  9. are of special interest. Files are grouped in the following directories:

  11. ai.natural.language   -- Natural language processing programs
  12. ai.nlp.book           -- Programs from the book _NLP for Prolog Programmers_
  13. ai.pc.utilities       -- IBM PC utilities and editors
  14. ai.phonetic.fonts     -- Timothy Montler's phonetic fonts for Laserjet II
  15. ai.prolog             -- Prolog programs and Prolog interpreters
  16. ai.prolog.book        -- Programs from the book _Prolog Programming in Depth_
  17. ai.prolog.standard    -- Draft proposed ISO Prolog standard, March 1993
  18. ai.reports            -- Research reports from the University of Georgia
  19. ai.misc               -- Other programs (mostly for UNIX)
  20. ai.unix.utilities     -- Useful utilities and shell scripts for UNIX

  22. Each directory has a file named "Contents" (not "contents"!)
  23. describing what is in it.

  26. FILE FORMATS
  27.  
  28. Caution!  All .tar, .Z, .exe, and .zip files require BINARY file transfer
  29. when they are transferred to a non-UNIX system!
  30.  
  31.   - If using FTP, issue the command "binary".
  32.   - If using Kermit, say "set file type binary" on both machines.
  33.  
  34. .tar    -- UNIX tape archive. Unpack using "tar -xvf filename.tar".
  35. .Z      -- Compressed UNIX file. Uncompress using "uncompress filename.Z".
  36. .zip    -- IBM PC compressed file; unzip using PKUNZIP.EXE (available here).
  37. .exe    -- IBM PC executable.
  38. .hqx    -- Macintosh binhex file; de-binhex with Stuffit, BinHex, or DeHQX.

  40. Many UNIX files have names ending in .tar.Z; uncompress and then tar -xvf.

  43. CONTRIBUTIONS

  45. Send email to mcovingt@ai.uga.edu if you wish to contribute a file
  46. to our library.  We are interested only in files closely relevant to
  47. our own work (mostly logic programming, expert systems, neural networks,
  48. and natural language processing).

  51. IT[Θ ALL FREE
  52.  
  53. All of our software is distributed FREE OF CHARGE. Except for PKUNZIP,
  54. we do not distribute shareware that requests payments to the author.
  55.  
  56. If you are unable to obtain our software by FTP, we can supply some 
  57. of it (programs originating at Georgia only) on IBM PC diskettes for
  58. $15 per diskette.
